Nokia unveils 808 PureView cameraphone

Nokia unveiled its 808 PureView cameraphone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) over the weekend.
The smartphone device boasts 41-megapixel image capabilities, as well as low-light performance and image compression to help users share photos.
Powered by a 1.3GHz processor, the handset sports a 4-inch 360 x 640 display and comes with 16GB of storage.

Nokia's 808 PureView runs its own Symbian operating system, rather than Microsoft's Windows Phone OS like the manufacturer's other recent handsets. Symbian was once the world's leading mobile phone platform, but has been on a downward spiral since being overtaken by Android last year.
"People will inevitably focus on the 41 megapixel sensor," said Nokia executive vice president Jo Harlow. "But the real quantum leap is how the pixels are used to deliver breathtaking image quality at any resolution and the freedom it provides to choose the story you want to tell."
The Finnish manufacturer also showcased the Lumia 610 smartphone at MWC. The device is billed as a budget-friendly alternative to the Lumia 800, geared towards a younger audience.
Nokia's 808 Pureview is expected to land in Europe in May.
