iPlayer is in the works for Windows Phone, the BBC has confirmed.

Head of iPlayer David Price said that it is currently working with Microsoft to "ensure" that users will have access to the catch-up service at some point.

"What I can say about that is we make our services available through a number of ways, whether they're applications or the mobile web experience," he told Digital Spy.

"We're working with the teams at Microsoft to ensure that we can deliver an iPlayer experience on those devices."

Currently there is no way to access iPlayer on Windows Phone, due to the lack of HLS and Adobe Flash video streaming support, or a dedicated application.

iPlayer is now available on Xbox 360 for all users, while Microsoft revealed a three-fold increase in video consumption following the console's entertainment-focused relaunch in November.
