Actor Seann William Scott reprises his role as the foul-mouthed Stifler in American Reunion, featuring the entire cast reuniting to reminisce about their high school days.
To promote the movie ahead of its release on April 6 in the US and May 2 in the UK, Universal Pictures has created a soundboard app called The Stifler App Suite, featuring various racy one-liners form the character.
The Stifler App Suite has already appeared in the Google Play app store for Android devices, but it has not been made available on Apple iOS in the App Store.
CultofMac reports an unnamed source as saying that Apple's App Store review team decided to reject the app due to its foul language, forcing Universal to hastily resubmit a 'watered-down' version for approval.
The website claims that the following sayings were deemed too rude for the App Store:
"Suck me beautiful"
"M-I-L-F, mum I'd like to f**k"
"This one time at band camp, I stuck a flute in my p***y"
According to CultofMac's source, Universal clearly flagged that the app as containing R-rated material, including foul language.
But the site notes there are other apps with this rating on the App Store, such as the official Playboy app, while the previous American Pie movies are available on iTunes with an R rating.
It is therefore unclear why Apple opted to reject the Stifler soundboard, causing Universal to resubmit a less dirty version featuring PG-13 rated content, which is still awaiting approval.
Apple has not commented on the report.
