Google's latest operating system was supposed to be available for the handsets today, but Vodafone subscribers will have to wait until April 13 to download it via KIES, or April 17 to access it over the air.
"Unfortunately Samsung have told us this morning that they are unable to make the update available to you as planned," read a statement from Vodafone.
"The new plan from Samsung is that the update will be available via KIES tomorrow, April 13, and via Over The Air update on Tuesday, April 17. If this moves at all, we'll of course let you know.
"I know a lot of you, like us, will be disappointed at this last-minute change of plan and we continue to challenge Samsung to make this available to you as quickly as possible."
Ice Cream Sandwich launched with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in November last year, but Google's efforts to roll it out on a wider scale have hit several setbacks. Compatibility issues with the software delayed the launch of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 2 in the UK.
Samsung previously announced that Galaxy S2 owners with SIM-free handsets will be the last to receive Android 4.0.
