AppleInsider claims that subtle changes to the company's OS X could be an indication that its laptop range will receive the same screen technology as its iPhone 4S and new iPad devices.
The website discovered that Apple has upped the resolution of its TextEdit icon to double its capacity, giving rise to speculation that the MacBook 2013 range will support greater graphic capabilities.
Developers working with the Apple Mac OS X Mountain Lion beta have turned in similar reports, noting that icons in the new operating system have also seen an increase in resolution.
Apple refreshed its MacBook Pro laptop line in October last year with advances in speed, storage and graphics power for its 13-inch, 15-inch, and 17-inch models.
The company is expected to launch upgraded versions of its MacBook Pro and MacBook Air computers to coincide with the launch of the full version of OS X Mountain Lion.
