British Eurosport channel launches on Sky Go

British Eurosport has today (May 29) launched on Sky Go, the multiplatform service enabling Sky customers to watch live and on-demand television on multiple devices.

Ahead of a momentous summer for sport in Britain, the addition of British Eurosport allows Sky Go users to watch coverage of various leading sporting events while on the move.

British Eurosport will show live coverage of the French Open, the Tour de France and Le Mans, among other sports this summer.

The channel, which replaced Eurosport International in 1999, is the UK arm of the pan-European Eurosport sports network.

It will appear in the Sports section of Sky Go - alongside Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 and 4, Sky Sports F1, Sky Sports News and ESPN - and be available to all Sky customers with a Sky Entertainment Extra pack.

Last year, Sky united its existing Sky Mobile TV and Sky Player service to create Sky Go, a multiplatform product that allows streaming of live channels on devices such as smartphones, laptops and tablet computers.

The service passed 2.5 million users in April and achieved a record audience of more than 250,000 viewers for the Manchester City versus Manchester United derby last month.

This summer, Sky will launch its separate NOW TV internet-based streaming service, which will aim to attract people who have so far shunned pay-TV with pay-per-view access to leading content.

NOW TV will launch with just access to films from Sky Movies, but Sky intends to expand the service to entertainment and sport content (including football matches) in the future.
