Microsoft has announced that it is to sell its products in Iraq.

The computing giant has teamed up with Baghdad-based Legend Lands to distribute its wares in the war torn country, Business Week reports.

Legend Lands will also provide official Microsoft licensing to enterprise companies and individual customers in the Middle Eastern territory.

Microsoft's manager of business development for emerging markets Rajai S. El-Khadem made the announcement yesterday (May 28), and took the opportunity to call upon the Iraqi government to introduce laws protecting intellectual property and usage of software.

Iraq's technology market was flooded with illegal products following war shortages and a lack of government supervision.

El-Khadem described the Iraqi market as a "promising and aggressive" one that "needs to be served at the same level as all the other countries".
