Sony has unveiled further information about its FutureScapes collaboration with Forum for the Future.
The technology concepts explored that may contribute to a more sustainable future include the lifetime-lasting evolving 'Wandular' device, the high-tech rural 'Hyper Village', coding-promoting 'Internet of Things Academy' and technology design philosophy 'The Shift'.
"With collaboration at its core FutureScapes sought to shake up the way people think about sustainability and technology," said general manager sustainability of Sony Europe Esther Maughan McLachlan.
"It's not about predicting the future; instead it's about getting better at imagining the possibilities. And that means putting people rather than isolated technologies or scientific data in the foreground, creating new connections to jolt us out of conventional ways of thinking."
She added: "We're really excited about the potential of these concepts and have set about connecting with others already working in these areas, in order to explore how FutureScapes can continue to evolve."
The four concept ideas will be further explored in the coming months with the schemes project partners: Engage by Design (Wandular), Pipeline Projects (Hyper Village), Superflux (nternet of things academy) and Forum for the Future (The Shift).
