Research in Motion (RIM) is planning to release a tablet called BlackBerry Blackforest next autumn, according to a report.

BBOS has posted what it claims to be a 'roadmap' detailing the company's release scheduled for the next year, listing BlackBerry 10 devices and a 4G PlayBook.

The inclusion of the Blackforest slate has attracted the most attention, sparking rumours that the device will sport a 10-inch screen and 128GB of storage. The tablet is listed for release during Q3, 2013, along with two mystery products codenamed Nashville and Naples.

RIM's 4G PlayBook, which is expected to be US-only, is down for launch in Q4 this year, ahead of the BB10 handsets London and Nevada during the following quarter.

The company has endured a torrid year of financial turmoil, job cuts, under-performing products, and a reputation-damaging service blackout. BB10 was also pushed back recently, having been slated to debut this year.

RIM CEO Thorsten Heins recently moved to stamp out rumours that the firm is in a "death spiral", claiming that it is merely undergoing a transition.

The upcoming BB10 operating system is being viewed by many as RIM's 'last chance' to remain competitive in the consumer market.
