Bloomberg cites sources close to the company claiming that it is readying a slate featuring Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor and Microsoft's Windows RT.
Windows RT is a version of Windows 8 designed specifically for devices with an ARM-based processor. It was unveiled alongside two other iterations of the OS - Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro - earlier this year.
Microsoft has already unveiled its flagship Windows 8 tablet in the shape of Surface. Third-party manufacturers including Dell, Hewlett Packard, and Asus will also release Windows 8 slates after the OS has launched.
Samsung is the market leader in the Android tablet sector, finding success with its Galaxy Tab line, which recently avoided a sales ban in the UK when the High Court ruled against Apple's claims of patent violation.
Microsoft announced earlier today (July 9) that Windows 8 will be released in late October.
