Major outlets such as Starbucks, McDonald's and Pizza Hut will have their official apps moved to the dedicated section.
The Starbucks app quickly shot to the top of the chart for most downloaded free 'Food and Drinks' apps, while Food Network's in the Kitchen app is the most popular premium product.
More than 3,000 apps are currently available in the new section, but food subjects such as dieting, shopping, and coupons will continue to be hosted elsewhere.
