In a blog post, Facebook explained that clicking Photos on the top of your Timeline now results in larger images filling the top of the page.
The redesign of the grid of photos introduces images of variable sizes and shapes, enabling users to highlight the ones that matter to them most.
A top-placed menu system reveals any photos in which you are tagged (Photos of You), pictures you've shared (Photos) or albums you have created (Albums).
With all Facebook photos in just one section, it is intended to be easier to locate and share your favourites.
Pressing the 'star' button instantly makes important photos stand out on the grid system.
Overall, the page has also been cleaned up and simplified in a redesign that is similar to the recent revamp of photo social network Flickr.
Facebook said that it intends to continue improving the Photos changes, and then start rolling out globally.
