Announced at the CES Show way back in January, the Ascend P1 is one of the slimmest phones on the market, at just 7.69mm thick.
The handset runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich with Huawei's HAP 5.1 interface over the top. It has a dual-core processor, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen, 8-megapixel camera and 1800mAh battery.
Available in a premium black soft-touch matt finish, the Ascend P1 is being offered for free on £26 pay-monthly price plans at Vodafone. It is also available from various retail websites for around £350 SIM-free.
Huawei intends to back up the launch with major marketing campaigns across outdoor, print and digital media.
The Ascend P1 will compete with ZTE's Grand X handset, another budget Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone that launched this month with slightly lower specs, and a starting contract price of £27 per month.
