Cubic Network is accusing the social network of copying the chronological layout it introduced back in 2008 and is seeking damages, China Youth Daily reports.
The website's founder Xiong Wanli alleges that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg attended a talk he gave at Stanford University about the Timeline feature, and later chose to adopt it himself.
Facebook made its own Timeline feature available to all of its users in December 2011. Cubic Network proceeded with the lawsuit after consulting with US lawyers.
Cubic Network has also accused Zuckerberg's firm of infringing on its logo with the emblem it uses for the Facebook F8 developer conference.
Facebook is yet to respond to the allegations.
