The Wall Street Journal will next month open a pop-up cafe in the heart of London's Tech City, hosting a series of events featuring key figures from Facebook, Google and O2 owner Telefonica.

The Rupert Murdoch-owned paper will run the cafe for three days from September 12, aimed at showcasing its global technology offering to the growing tech hubs's entrepreneurs, developers and venture capitalists.

Located at The Book Club in Shoreditch, The Journal's inaugural Tech Café will feature a series of events hosted by Ben Rooney, its European technology editor, and Alan Murray, executive editor of The Wall Street Journal Online.

This will include panel discussions and "fireside chat-style interviews" with technology influencers from Google, Facebook, Telefónica and Berg, among others.

Subjects to be covered will include the key to start-up success, attracting VC funding, privacy policy, the role of social media in customer interaction and the future of technology.

The café will also include an exhibition of the Journal's "hedcuts" of global technology influencers, complete with video interviews brought to life through augmented reality.

The Journal has gained a strong reputation for breaking technology stories, while the paper's online arm is also part of the digital network that operates the influential All Things Digital website.

"The Wall Street Journal's global technology coverage is unrivalled in its breadth and depth, delivering breaking news, insightful features and compelling discussion about industry trends," said Rooney.

"Our Tech Europe blog has been helping tell Europe's tech story for almost two years now, and our first ever Tech Café will allow us to bring all this coverage to a wider audience.

"I hope we'll have some thought-provoking, engaging and even controversial discussion on some of the big topics in tech."

The Wall Street Journal Tech Café will be held at The Book Club at 100-106 Leonard Street from 8am on Wednesday, September 12 until 5pm on Friday, September 14. Access is free to members of the public but attendees are asked to pre-register for sessions online.
