Digital Spy got out on the streets of London to ask Apple fanboys and newbies alike what they made of yesterday's big reveal, and here's what they had to say.
> iPhone 5 announced by Apple
You've also been commenting on our iPhone reports in your hundreds, and here's just a small selection of some of your thoughts from across the site:
"Looks very similar to the last 5 iPhones, Apple will end up suing their own designers for copying at this rate! "
"Would have the 2007 iPhone over the Samsung Lagaxy anyday, this new iPhone looks amazing, can't wait for the 21st :)"
> Apple iPhone 5: Will you be buying?
"Nothing remotely new or innovative here. Small screen by todays standards (I'll admit its probably the nicest to look at though). Nothing at all that makes me think of getting one in October when my contract expires. Even the Siri functionality, I've had an app on my S2 for 18months that has been able to do what they are now calling new!"
"The specs are fab, the camera looks amazing as well does the speed and more importantly continual development of ease of use. 'The has to be something newer than new' junkies can stick with buggy android handsets, it's low ratings in customer satisfaction and that lovely guessing game of whether you get the next update or not. I'm happy with the new iPhone 5 as it will do exactly what i want it to do and sync beautifully with my other devices."
> iOS 6 releasing on September 19, confirms Apple
"It's basically a different shaped iPhone 4s with a bigger screen! Apple have completely lost it... I'm glad I bought a Galaxy S3 and didn't wait for this!"
"There is nothing wrong with the iPhone 5. It's a great phone! The design doesn't really need to be re-"innovated" as there was nothing wrong with the previous generation design. In terms of hardware upgrades, it's a lot more than the 4s offered over the 4 so I'm happy. And for all the Samsung fans, it doesn't matter if the S3 has higher specs or not as that means nothing if the OS sucks (which Android does). Not to mention that 4.8 inches for a screen is absolutely ridiculous! "
"There's no denying that the iPhone 5 is a good phone, but people have come to expect more from Apple. The 4s was a compromise to many, and plain and simply they have not brought much to the table this time to get excited about."
> Samsung could block iPhone 5 sales over LTE dispute
"Don't know why everyone is moaning? Did you see EA's demo? I'm sold. I'll take console graphics on the go thanks."
"I'm looking at the iPhone 5 with an open mind! It could be great but still not overly excited about it though."
"The S3 is way more impressive than this uninspiring slight incremental upgrade. I waited for over a year for this phone.. What a disappointment. Apple really seem to have lost their way - too much time fighting dodgy patents, not enough time genuinely innovating."
> iPhone 5: Has Apple lost its cool?
"B-e-a-utiful. First iPhone, can't wait!"
"Well after having a 4 for 2 years now am seeing the 5 and it's 'new' features I can safely say I'll be getting the S3, exact same features but at a much higher speed."
"Go to laugh at the iPhone 5 haters on here... I like Apple and I'll be buying it end of... "
> iPhone 5 to sell 6m at launch, says analyst
"I love my 4s, have the iMac, Apple TV, iPad and Macbook Pro, and I really wanted to love the iPhone 5 but I'm really quite underwhelmed by it... In fact, I'm far more excited by the update to iOS than I am by the iPhone. There just isn't enough wow in this release to make me want to upgrade."
"Its Apples' Sandbox... the others are just playing in it... deal with it "
"I will probably get it. I have had my iphone4 for 2 years now and am due an upgrade... BUT it depends on what my upgrade cost will be. I am not paying a load of money to upgrade my phone."
"I think it's the best iPhone yet, seriously...what's wrong with people!?"
