The imaging platform enables users to store and access images regardless of where they have been saved with the help of a special tagging and indexing functionality.
Photos can be uploaded from any device via a desktop uploader or the service's website. Social networking integration with services such as Facebook allows users to share pictures with friends and family.
Users can store and access images during Project 1709's beta phase, as well as try out the tagging, search function and Facebook connectivity.
Canon is expected to launch the service in full in 2013, when its official name will be revealed along with a host of additional features.
The beta can be accessed in both English and German through the Project 1709 website.
