Acer unveils new quad-core Iconia Tab Android slate

Acer has announced the new Iconia Tab A110, its latest Android tablet that is coming to Europe this autumn.

Competing with Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's incoming Kindle Fire, the Iconia Tab A110 is a seven-inch slate that weighs around 390g.

Powered by a Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor, the tablet allows fast and smooth web surfing, efficient app multi-tasking, HD video streaming and console-quality gaming.

The device runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the latest version of the Google mobile operating system. Jelly Bean automatically resizes the widgets to the available space and can display larger, richer graphics or additional functionality.

As it is an Android slate, the Iconia Tab A110 comes pre-loaded with a range of Google mobile services, including Gmail, Google+, Maps, Messenger, the Google Play Store, Talk and YouTube.

It also has Google Currents, the mobile app that lets you browse hundreds of free online magazines and blogs all in one place.

There is a 2MP front-facing camera for video calling, as well as locking and unlocking the device via facial recognition.

The device has HDMI ports, a micro-USB port, and a micro-SD card slot that can extend the memory up to 32GB.

Launching in the "autumn", Acer's new Iconia Tab A110 will be available soon to pre-order from Ebuyer, priced at £179.99.
