Available to download for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play, the app allows users to catch up on programmes shown on STV, including Coronation Street, Downton Abbey and Scotland Tonight.
Users can search for programmes, as well as browse A-Z lists, category lists and recommendations around recent and popular programmes.
STV said that the launch of the app is part of its STV Anywhere strategy, involving content being served up for free across all available platforms. It joins the STV News app that is already available.
"STV is committed to making its wealth of content available free of charge to consumers anytime, anywhere," said Alistair Brown, the chief technology and platforms officer at STV
"STV's digital channels already attract over three million unique users per month and we anticipate this will continue to rise as the STV Player App on Android and iOS further enhances STV's multi-channel offering."
