Virgin Media has acquired major US shows including Grey's Anatomy and Criminal Minds for its on demand service on digital cable.
The acquisition deal was negotiated by Steve Nam, director of rights for Living and Bravo, and Catherine Powell, Buena Vista International TV's regional sales VP.
"We're strengthening our TV-on-demand and HDTV offerings with this major new agreement," said Virgin Media president and CEO Steve Burch. "Our customers already love the additional choice and control offered by on-demand and now we're focused on creating a must see menu of entertainment."
In addition to Grey's Anatomy and Criminal Minds, the deal includes Day Break and the final two seasons of Alias. The licence covers high definition versions of the shows.
"Flexibility and choice are becoming increasingly important factors to consumers of TV entertainment, so we're pleased to be working to offer this strong selection of our series to Virgin Media's customers across the UK, in convenient ways," said Jim Brehm, senior VP of sales at Buena Vista International TV's Europe, Middle East and Africa unit.
