The company confirmed that the update will come to its flagship Xperia T handset around February, with the Xperia V to follow shortly after.
Other handsets in the range to receive Android 4.1 include Xperia S, Xperia acro, Xperia ion, Xperia P, Xperia Go and Xperia J.
However, devices from Sony's 2011 Xperia line will not be upgraded beyond Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, meaning that the Xperia Arc S and Xperia Mini Pro will be left behind.
The Android 4.1 operating system was released last summer with the Google Nexus 7 tablet, but manufacturers are only now beginning to adopt it for their flagship devices.
Earlier this week, Samsung Galaxy S3 owners in the UK began to receive the update.
