Sky launches online remote service

Sky has launched a new service which will allow viewers with Sky+ and Sky HD boxes to programme their machines online.
The Remote Record service is free to use and is accessed via www.sky.com/remoterecord.
Visitors to the site can view Sky's seven-day TV guide and select programmes to record with a few simple clicks. The guide enables people to search and browse listings by time, day or programme name.
Last year Sky launched the mobile Remote Record service, which works via mobile internet and SMS. The company says it is the only provider in the world to offer the service on three platforms.
Stephen Van Rooyen, Sky's director of product management, said: "Remote Record is perfect for those situations when you hear about a TV show and want to record it there and then, if you're stuck late at work or if you've simply forgotten to record that programme you want to watch. It's about making TV fit around people's increasingly busy lives."
