Virgin: No TV price rises planned
Published Tuesday, Mar 6 2007, 16:06 GMT | By James Welsh
Virgin Media has announced that it is not planning to increase the subscription price of its television service.
The confirmation came after an analyst who attended a lunch presentation by Virgin Media CEO Steve Burch yesterday indicated that further TV price rises were "likely". In a statement to DS this afternoon, a Virgin Media spokesperson said that Burch was referring to "the recent price rises we made on our TV packs as part of the Virgin Media alignment". Those price rises came into effect on February 1 and Burch "wasn't referring to any new increases," the spokesperson added.
Virgin Media is expected to announce a price reduction for telephony subscriptions within the next two weeks as part of a strategy to bolster its fixed-line telephony offering.
