Mozilla launches Popcorn Maker video editor

By
Mozilla's Firefox
Mozilla has released a video editing tool called Popcorn Maker.

The browser-based service allows users to enhance footage with web content such as Wikipedia links or Google Maps.

"Until now, video on the web has been stuck inside a little black box," said Popcorn Maker head Brett Gaylor.

"Popcorn Maker changes that, making video work like the rest of the web - hackable, linkable, remixable and connected to the world around it."

Popcorn Maker, built using web technologies such as HTML5 and Javascript, features a drag-and-drop interface that can be used to rework YouTube, Vimeo and Soundcloud clips.

The service has been available to developers for some time, but is now accessible to the general public via its official website.
