HTC Droid DNA hybrid device announced for US market

By
HTC has teamed up with Verizon to officially announce its Droid DNA hybrid device for the US market.

The Galaxy Note 2 competitor was previously released in Japan as the HTC J Butterfly, and was confirmed for a Western release at a New York press conference today (November 13).

Powered by a hefty quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon Pro S4 1.5GHz processor, the handset boasts a 5-inch 1080p super LCD 3 display powerful enough to rival Samsung's Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note.

HTC claims the device has a greater pixel density than any smartphone on the market, with its 440 pixels per inch out-gunning the iPhone 5's 326pp.

The handset also packs 2GB of RAM, 4G connectivity and launches with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board. An 8-megapixel camera is mounted on the rear, and a 2.1-megapixel snapper on the front.

HTC's Droid DNA will be exclusive to Verizon in the US. A UK release is considered unlikely, though the company could launch a modified version of the device for the territory, as it did with the J Butterfly.
