Apple teases Black Friday 'shopping event'

Apple has teased a major "shopping event" for Black Friday (November 23), when it will offer discounts on products bought in store and online.

Various retailers in the US and Europe will hold major sales for Black Friday, which is the day after Thanksgiving in the US and typically viewed as the curtain-raiser for the Christmas shopping season.

Apple has posted a teaser page on its UK website promising a big one-day sale.

"The one day Apple shopping event is Friday, November 23. Get ready to give," it says.

"Shop online or at your favourite Apple retail store. We'll help you make the most out of the day, no matter how you shop."

Apple is to offer free delivery for all online purchases on Black Friday, and consumers can use the new Apple Store app in the sale, enabling them to shop on their iPhone, as well as scan and pay for items in store.

Apple has participated in Black Friday sales drives in the past, although the discounts it has offered have not been overly generous.

The company also noted that sale prices this year are "limited to stock on hand and while stocks last".

Third party retailers will also offer various discounts on technology products on Black Friday, including some potentially bigger cuts on prices of Apple devices.
