The function is now available in the US as part of the social network's Gifts service, allowing account holders to act on movie and music recommendations.
"Starting today with Facebook Gifts, you can instantly gift your friends iTunes digital gifts and recommend albums, movies, games, apps, and more available on the iTunes Store," read a statement from Facebook.
Users can send an iTunes gift card worth up to $50 (£31) to a friend by clicking the 'gift' icon on their timeline. They can then be redeemed on the Apple storefront once a notification has come through.
Apple and Facebook have been working closely together in recent months following the Cupertino firm's decision to include deep Facebook integration in its iOS 6 mobile operating system.
Facebook has confirmed that the Gifts service will be rolled out in other countries following the conclusion of the US trial.
