Sky Anytime TV unveiled on HD boxes
Published Tuesday, Mar 27 2007, 11:48 BST | By James Welsh
Sky's new Anytime satellite-based download service has become available on high definition boxes today.
A red button link to the Anytime menu appeared on the main TV Guide page of Sky HD boxes early Tuesday morning, according to Digital Spy Sky HD forum members. An option to turn the service off is also now available by pressing services and selecting option 6.
As revealed in our in-depth preview of the service, a portion of the disk drive in Sky+ and Sky HD boxes is used to store TV content to be viewed on demand.
"Sky+ has already given millions of people freedom from their TV schedule, helping viewers to enjoy more of the TV they want to watch," Stephen Van Rooyen, director of product management at Sky. "Anytime on TV helps our customers get even more out of Sky+ by presenting them with highlights of the weeks' programmes to watch on demand - shows that they might not otherwise have found and which they can then transfer to their Sky+ box to series link and watch every week."
So far, content from Sky One, Sky Movies, Sky Sports, Sky Arts, National Geographic, The History Channel, Biography, Crime and Investigation Network, Adventure One, Disney and Turner - including, where relevant, HD programmes - has been secured for the Anytime on TV service.
