The premium suite update will also introduce Galaxy Note II features such as Multi Window, which allows users to use multiple apps at the same time on the same screen, and Popup Note, which enables note-taking while on calls or watching videos.

Samsung is yet to announce when the update will go live, but is likely to reveal more at next month's Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas.

The news comes a month after the update was released for the Galaxy Note 10.1, having previously launched on Samsung's Galaxy S3 smartphone.

A 7-inch Galaxy Note is rumoured to be in the testing stage of development at Samsung.

The mystery product, which previously appeared on the Nenamark benchmark site a few weeks previous, is said to feature a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 and comes running the Android 4.1.2 operating system.

The rumoured Galaxy Note 7.0 could be unveiled at CES 2013 next month or the Mobile World Congress in February.
