All three sets will feature smart and 3D technology, dual-core processors, web browsers and built-in Wi-Fi connectivity.

The entry-level 6-Series measures in at 60-inches and boasts 1080p capabilities with AQUOMotion 240 (120Hz), while the 7- and 8-Series are equipped with Quattron "colour intensification" as well as AQUOMotion 480 and AQUOMotion 960 technology, respectively.

"It's simple - consumers want big screens with excellent picture quality, something that Sharp is uniquely able to deliver," said Sharp marketing executive John Herrington.

"We're gearing up to extend our leadership in the large screen LED TV market with our finest AQUOS lineup ever, including more choices in large screen LED TV, more Quattron models and iconic designs."

Sharp's new AQUOS line will be available in the first quarter of 2013, with prices starting at around $1,500 (£932).
