The company unveiled the tablet devices as predicted but is yet to announce a move into the mobile phone sector, giving rise to speculation that it will do so at a later date.

Archos is reportedly readying a trio of handsets for launch later this year - the 3.5-inch Archos Carbon 35, the 5.2-inch 52 Titanium, and the high-end 4.8-inch 48 Platinum.

The Carbon and Titanium models are said to run the previous-generation Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, while the Platinum will be powered by the latest Jelly Bean software, backed up by a quad-core processor.

As with Archos's tablet line, the company is expected to undercut its competition where pricing is concerned, offering the Platinum handset for £215.
