The firm's vice-chairman Kwon Oh-hyun expressed his regret over the January incident and vowed to overhaul safety measures at Samsung factories.
"We've always taken great pride in the high standards we set for our operations and the safety measures we have in place," he said in a statement issued to The Wall Street Journal.
"In keeping with our commitment to operating high-quality facilities, we are committed to continually making enhancements to our protocols to ensure we are protecting the safety and well-being of our employees, partners and the local community."
Samsung will also be withdrawing its application to have the Hwaseong factory certified 'green' for the next five years, Yonhap News reports.
Seven people are still under police investigation on charges of negligence over the incident.
