By
Sony has addressed reports that its Xperia Tablet Z has run into delays.

The electronics giant denies that the flagship Android slate has been postponed from April to May, revealing that customers were originally misinformed about its release date.

Pre-order customers were initially told to expect their tablet to arrive between April 12 and 15, but Sony has now confirmed that this information was sent out in error and apologised for the inconvenience caused.

"Xperia Tablet Z became available for pre-order last week and we're delighted by the incredible response. During this process however, some Sony customers were misinformed of the expected delivery date to be 12th to 15th April," reads a company statement.

"This was in error and has never been the case; the units will be delivered as scheduled at the end of May. We apologise for any confusion caused - customers are being contacted individually by phone (or email if unavailable) to ensure the correct information reaches them."

Sony's Xperia Tablet Z has a 10.1-inch HD display (1920x1200) with high brightness and high definition video WUXGA technology, along with the Mobile Bravia Engine 2 for boosting the image content and contrasts.

Running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the Xperia Z tablet is powered by a 1.5Ghz quad-core processor and has an 8.1 million pixel camera on the rear, equipped with a CMOS sensor Exmor R for the first time in a Sony tablet.
