An anonymous telephone bidder from Asia won the vintage device at the 350 Years of Computer History auction in Cologne, Germany on Saturday (May 25).

Around 50 Apple Is were built by co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in the garage of Jobs's parents.

Some 46 machines are thought to now be left out of around 200 produced in total - although the majority are now dysfunctional.

A signature by Wozniak inked on the computer's motherboard was on display at the auction.

The package sold also came with an original monitor, tape-player, keyboard and documentation signed by Steve Jobs.
