The Android version of Vine launches with many of the same features as its iOS counterpart, but front-facing camera support, hashtags, search, mentions and Facebook integration will be added in the coming weeks.

Twitter has pledged to regularly update the Android edition of the software to bring it in line with the build available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

Exclusive features of the Android app include the ability to zoom on devices that support it and improved offline browsing.

Vine will be available for tablets and smartphones running Android 4.0 and above later today.
