BBC iPlayer Radio sees record monthly requests

BBC iPlayer Radio saw a record-breaking month in May, handling 76 million programming requests.

Radio 4 comedies such as The Unbelievable Truth and The Now Show were among the most popular, along with sports coverage including rugby and cricket.

Content from BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend, which aired between May 24 and 26, also appeared in the top 20.

Doctor Who, The Apprentice and The Voice were the most popular programmes over on the TV side of the on-demand service, followed by Waterloo Road and Russell Howard's Good News.

Overall requests for the month across PC, mobile, tablet and connected TV topped 257 million, equalling that of April.

Average daily requests peaked at just under 8 million, and weekly requests were steady on 53 million.
