By
Each week, Digital Spy rounds up the biggest mobile apps for iOS and Android devices. This week's highlights include Yahoo's revamped Sports application and the arrival of the Battlefield 3 companion app on Google Play.

The football season doesn't resume for another two months, but that doesn't mean the world of sports has come to a complete standstill. We still have Wimbledon and the British Grand Prix to look forward to, not to mention all of the goings on across the Atlantic.

To coincide with what promises to be a great summer of sport, Yahoo! has revamped its Sportacular app to ensure that users are treated to a first-class, second-screen experience for the event they happen to be watching.

Yahoo! Sports for iOS and Android gives users instant access to results as they happen, expert analysis, and new personalisation options. The app is a significant improvement on its predecessor in both design and features, and even introduces iPad optimisation.

Rejuvenated social network Myspace has launched new iOS application to tie in with the website's recent relaunch, bringing the same image-heavy design to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

There's more to the new app than visual enhancements, with new features including a GIF maker and Social Radio that serves users the music they like based on the preferences they specify.

Myspace may have fallen far behind Facebook, but with the world's biggest social network dropping the ball in the mobile sector with its poorly-received Home application, there may be an opportunity for it to gain ground here.

Office Mobile iOS app

Office Mobile for Office 365 Subscribers
Price: £7.99 per month / £79.99 per year
Publisher: Microsoft
Mobile users have been waiting a fair while for an official version of Microsoft Office that they can carry around in their pocket, and Microsoft has finally delivered... well, sort of.

Office Mobile for Office 365 Subscribers is exactly what the title suggests - a version of the bestselling productivity software that requires an Office 365 subscription to access.

Despite the limitations placed on its user base, the app comes with all of the essential features, from Word, Powerpoint and Excel editing tools to cloud support.

For those unwilling to commit to an Office 365 subscription, there are plenty of viable alternatives available on the App Store. We recommend Quickoffice Pro HD, Smart Office Apple's own iWork.

Android

Battlelog Android app

Battlelog Android app

Battelog
Price: Free
Publisher: EA
Battlelog is an application aimed solely at players of EA's Battlefield 3 and Medal of Honour: Warfighter video games, delivering stats, news and social features for both titles.

The app, previously released for iOS hardware, ties in with the social network of the same name to help users keep track of their friends' in-game progress and monitor their own statistics on the go.

Second-screen support and social features will play a bigger role in gaming during the next console generation, so using Battlelog in conjunction with Battlefield 3 will serve as an effective way to prepare yourself for the dawn of new era.

Online security is a hot topic right now, and anti-virus pioneers McAfee are rolling out a new set of tools to help Android users ensure theirs.

Available in beta, the software includes a range of useful security features such as a Safe QR Reader, a Data Vault for encrypting files, and a Smart Perimeter function that links two devices together and alerts the user when they become separated.

As this software is a work in progress, users who partake in the beta will have the opportunity to feedback directly to McAfee, and offer suggestions for improving the service.

Go Launcher Prime
Price: £3.88

Go Launcher is an alternate home screen for Android tablets and smartphones that adorns the user's device with more than 10,000 new themes, countless animations and a range of other features.

A premium version of the application that removes adverts, adds two-finger gestures options (of the non-offensive variety), and introduces yet more home screen animations.

Go Launcher Prime is temporarily available at a reduced price while its developers work on new features to incorporate, so expect a major content update to arrive imminently.
