The Asus-manufactured device will feature the new addition of a rear-mounted 5-megapixel camera, as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 4GB of DDR3L RAM.

However, the report notes that the product in question could be a prototype version of the tablet, with the final build potentially having 2GB of RAM.

It is also claimed that the 7-inch slate will come in 16GB and 32GB variations and serve as the launch vehicle for Google's Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system.

The second-generation Nexus 7 is expected to be formally announced at a Google press event on July 24, along with Android 4.3. The 32GB version of the device is rumoured to be priced at $269.99 (£178).
