New iPhone fingerprint sensor confirmed by iOS 7 beta?

By
Rumours that the next iPhone will feature a fingerprint scanner appear to have been confirmed by code in the latest iOS 7 beta.

A file called "BiometricKitUI" features text describing the new feature. Intended to tell the iPhone what to read out when in voiceover mode, the text actually explains how the new function works.

Discovered by iOS 7 beta user Hamza Sood, the details were sent to 9to5Mac.

Text in the file includes: "Photo of a person holding an iPhone with their left hand while touching the Home button with their thumb", and: "Photo of a person holding an iPhone with their right hand while touching the Home button with their thumb."

The file also contains this line: "A fingerprint that changes colour during the setup process", all but confirming the fingerprint tech.

Sood explains that the fingerprint sensor is intended solely for locking and unlocking the new iPhone, not managing payments or other handset features.
