Broadband news scored a double whammy in this week's tech news, one being good news, other being bad.

Starting with the good, Tesco revealed that it will offer its broadband free for any customer who buys an internet-capable device from them. Takers will have to take up the supermarket's line rental however, which costs £14.90.

Onto the bad news in broadband, BT is reportedly planning to increase the price of its offering by up to 6.5% next year for most customers. The price hike is one of many increases at the telecom giant but BT denies it is a result of its £1 billion BT Sport deal.

Elsewhere, Sky+ HD is to receive an update that will improve the search function. Over the next few months, customers will be given autofill suggestions as the user types in the search box.

Plus, Apple may struggle to bring HD retina displays to its next iPad Mini by the end of the year, according to a report. Sources claim that the company will still release the device in October despite the potential setback.
