Boomerang, the new channel from Cartoon Network launching on May 27th, has revealed more about the channel's identity, as well as a schedule.
Here's what Turner had to say about their new channel....
Cartoon Network is currently home to over 2,500 characters - with over 8,500 separate cartoons in the Hanna Barbera library alone. With so many cartoons and only one place to put them, there were not enough hours in the day to keep every toon fan happy. So we've created a new home for these much-loved classic cartoons and given them some fresh air to breathe.
Boomerang will boast 90 per cent unduplicated programming from its parent channel Cartoon Network. The kind of programme that will inspire feel-good in the old and will be rare treat to the new. The likes of Yogi Bear, The Jetsons, Hong King Phooey, Top Cat and Wacky Races will definitely be at home here. Boomerang will give young kids daily access to the all-time toon superstars, many of which continually top the ratings on terrestrial TV, and parents the chance to share their favourite cartoons with their own kids.
The on-air packaging for Boomerang brings the viewer a distinctive new look that presents classic characters as the cultural icons that they are. The look is based around prized collectable characters from the 60s and 70s, mixed with a contemporary backdrop of music and camera work.. This is our tribute to the significance of these characters and their modern appeal.
Boomerang from Cartoon Network will be distributed and available to digital satellite platform subscribers alongside Cartoon Network and Cartoon Network Plus. Viewers can toon in between 6am - midnight, 7 days a week.
