League meeting with Carlton, Granada unsuccessful

A meeting between representatives from Carlton, Granada and the Football League this afternoon was unsuccessful in making any further progress.

Charles Allen, chairman of Granada, Gerry Murphy, Carlton CEO, and League CEO Keith Harris were in attendance at the meeting, which took place at the office of Deloitte & Touche, the accountancy firm appointed to oversee the administration process.

It is understood however that no negotiations took place - as was previously hoped - and that the presence of Murphy and Allen, and indeed Harris was to update all parties on the progress of the administration process.

Meanwhile, a source close to the talks told BBC News Online that "a dialogue is now under way - negotiations are expected to resume next week," but that the situation was still "delicate".
