Published Thursday, Sep 6 2007, 16:37 BST | By Darren Shelley
S4C has launched its bilingual digital text service on the digital terrestrial television service, Freeview.
The offering, enabled by Emuse Absolutely, closely resembles the version that is currently available on Sky.
S4C viewers via DTT will be able to access the service by pressing the Text or the red button on their remote control. They will be directed to the main menu, which offers information in categories such as Programmes, Weather, A to Z, Children, learning Welsh and S4C 2.
"We are pleased to launch Digital Text on the Freeview platform, which further enhances and extends S4C's wide range of interactive services," said Arshad Rasul S4C's Director of Broadcast and Distribution.
Patrick Rainsford, CEO Emuse Absolutely added: "There was a hugely positive response to the interactive services offered for the first time on S4C's coverage of the 2006 Royal Welsh Show. This latest new service sees S4C delivering offerings to its audience consistent with those of the biggest broadcasters in the world."
