Al Jazeera English in talks with Virgin Media

Al Jazeera English is believed to be in talks with Virgin Media about launching the channel on cable.
The channel, which launched in November 2006, is currently only available on satellite in the UK.
Al Jazeera English already has a branded YouTube channel, and is also thought to be discussing content plans with UK mobile networks.
This year it has signed carriage deals with Digiturk in Turkey, Multichoice DStv in Africa and is planning a launch of the channel in India.
It has recently appointed former Turner Broadcasting System executive Phil Lawrie as its director of global distribution.
