Broadcasters announce Freeview HD plan
Published Tuesday, Nov 20 2007, 16:43 GMT | By James Welsh

The move comes one day after the BBC Trust greenlit BBC HD.
The broadcasters have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding that could see BBC HD, ITV HD and Channel 4 HD join Freeview in 2009-10, with Five HD to be added "as soon afterwards as capacity is available".
The agreement is based on Ofcom's plans to rearrange the way channels use the available digital terrestrial multiplexes, reserving one of the multiplexes currently used by the BBC for the transmission, using newer transmission standards, of high definition services by all five of the public service broadcasters.
