Sky Welcomes FA Premier League Decision On Live Football Rights

British Sky Broadcasting welcomed the announcement today by the FA Premier League today to select the company as its broadcast partner for the top package of 66 live games per season for three years from 2001.
Speaking after the Premier League announced its decision Tony Ball, BSkyB Chief Executive, said: "This is a powerful endorsement for Sky and we are delighted to be continuing our relationship with the Premier League for a further three seasons.
"The new contract means that Sky will have the first and second choice of games each week totalling 258 live Premier League games over the next four years."
The FA Premier League announced that the rights had been awarded at a price of £1.11bn.
