The ITC has announced that it is inviting applications to run the local "restricted service licence" television station on channel 68 in Leicster, operating from the Radcliffe College transmitter site.
The station is currently owned by Middlesex Broadcasting Corporation, which runs MATV - Britain's first Asian terrestrial channel.
Coverage of the station, in addition to the City of Leicester itself, reaches to Birstall, Sileby and Syston. The licence runs for four years, with MBC's current one running out on May 27, 2003. The deadline for applications is December 20 with the ITC expecting to publish its decision next February.
