Software upgrade in ntl Solent region

Members of the Digital Spy forums living in the ntl:home "Solent" franchise are reporting that the new software version, 'CR3', has been downloaded to their set-top-boxes this morning.
This software version, already available in some other franchises, offers improvements and changes to the existing 'CR2' software, mainly to the EPG and interactive services. It is based on version 1.2 of Liberate Technologies' set-top-box middleware, which permits enhanced interactive programming to be transmitted in synchronisation with live broadcast programmes - there have alreday been reports of tests of an interactive overlay on Channel 4 game show 15-to-1.
The main changes viewers will see consist of a new "iEPG" in ntl corporate colours - powered by a web-based implementation rather than the existing MCNS EPG, according to information first received by DS in October last year. A 'favourites' system similar to that available in non-exCWC ntl areas is available, along with search and diary functions. Reminders can be set with audio alerts.
Screenshots of the new software version can be found here.
