US cable network E! Entartainment will be launching on Sky Digital "before the year end," according to the Hollywood Reporter today.
The deal, set to be formally announced later this week, will see the unusual circumstance of E! paying for carriage on the service. Sky normally pays content providers for carriage from monthly subscriber revenues.
Sources indicated that there are more facets to the deal than meets the eye, however, but refused to expand further.
"This is part of Sky's emerging proposition of being selective about the kind of channels it is encouraging to come onto the platform," one said.
