Lester Mordue, head of programming at MTV's VH-1, has been poached by Sky to run its three new music stations.
The 36-year-old, who has worked with MTV for 12 years, will become the company's first 'Head of Music Television', overseeing the launch of the channels early next year.
"I am delighted that Lester will be joining us to manage our three new music channels, said Mark Sharman, director of broadcasting at Sky. "He has a great track record of innovation and creativity in the music business. He will give our new channels a great start."
Mordue said: "Sky is Europe's leading digital player with a superb reputation for every genre of content. There is much more scope for music TV today so I look forward to joining its team and launching the channels next year."
